Dear Colleagues,  Welcome! Briefly, I am a high school English teacher who is also a writer/publisher. Harris Communications (formerly Ariane Publications) is the company co-author Susan Thompson and I founded to publish and market the Hero’s Journey curriculum, which we spent about five years developing. While Susan has gone on to pursue other interests, I still run Ariane by myself. Naturally, as a (very) small publisher and full-time teacher, my resources are limited. This web site is my way to tell you about using the Hero’s Journey pattern to teach literature, film and writing. Besides being a place to discuss the Hero’s Journey, I hope this website will be a place where we can share ideas about mythology, symbolism, education and teaching, and other related ideas. Please feel free to make comments and share ideas. The Hero’s Journey is a powerful tool for teaching students about literature, film and life. Please take a look at the idea, even if you don’t purchase our curriculum. Bookmark this site and come back often.
